Thermo Physical Tests

Thanks to its complete laboratory equipment (most of which custom built in house) and to its specialized team of expert engineers, SSV is recognized at the European and international level as a center of excellence for the characterization of high temperature and thermo-physical properties of glass, refractories and raw materials.

The experimental characterization as a function of temperature (up to 1700°C) of electrical resistivity curves, linear expansion, surface tension, density and viscosity of glass, and the determination of the characteristic viscosity points (glass transition, softening, annealing, strain, etc.) provides decisive indications for the correct and efficient management of glass manufactoring process parameters.

On refractory materials, tests such as refractoriness under load (RUL) and creep in compression (CIC), thermal shock tests and measurement of expansion curves are essential for the prior evaluation of their possible performance in service life.
