Determining the devitrification curve of a given glass allows identification of the critical temperatures for crystal nucleation and growth, as well as the growth rate of these crystals. It is therefore of crucial importance in the event of defect-related issues in finished products and for managing the glass within the channels, particularly near the tank.

The test is carried out using a gradient furnace, and the evaluation method has been optimised in-house by SSV in accordance with the relevant ISO standard. The test can also be supplemented by XRD mineralogical analysis, aimed at identifying any crystalline phases that may have nucleated.
