SSV is equipped with the necessary instruments for measuring the cold mechanical properties of refractory materials: it has several precision analytical presses, capable of applying controlled loads of up to 600 kN.

For the evaluation of cold compressive strength, SSV is able to operate in compliance with the most widely used industry standards for reformed products, refractory concretes, insulating materials, etc., such as ASTM C133, UNI EN 993-5.
